Farmbox Membership (2024): Full Season

Farmbox is a type of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), where members buy "shares" of a farm's harvest ahead of the season. Members then enjoy the bounty all season long through weekly deliveries or pickups at the farm or at the Purple Porch Co-Op downtown.

How it works: Every week we'll walk through the garden and decide what's ready to harvest, and reach out on Fridays to let you know what to expect in your share (to help with meal planning and grocery shopping). We'll then harvest the produce right before it'll be delivered or picked up by our member, so that it's of highest quality and lasts longest on your counter or in your fridge. No sitting in a warehouse or truck for weeks! We'll often send out a recipe or two based on the produce in that week's share to give you an idea of how to use some of the more unusual veggies. *NEW* Delivery! - We now offer delivery! We'll keep it simple and allow delivery within any South Bend zip code. If you have "South Bend" as the city/town in your address, we can deliver to you (including the townships immediately around the city of South Bend). We'll then deliver during the business day, Monday->Friday 9am-5pm, to your supplied address. If the address to deliver to is different from your billing address, please include that in the note on the order page when you check out! The exact day and time will be figured out two weeks ahead of the beginning of Farmbox which begins mid-May, and we'll reach out to let you know. If it's during a day/time that you're not at the address, you'll be able to leave a cooler out and we'll put your share in there to keep it cool!

FAQs:

• How many veggies will I receive weekly? You'll receive 6-8 veggies on average per week, though sometimes more when we're experiencing an abundance of produce in the fields. This is usually enough to provide a family of 3+ with the majority of vegetables needed per week. A half-share is great for 1-2 people. A sample share from the height of season might include: Spring Mix Lettuce (6 oz), Carrots (1 lb), Spinach (8 oz), Cherry Tomatoes (1 pint), 2-3 Cucumbers, Kale (1 bunch), and Peppers (1 lb)
• Do I have to pay it all up front? Yes. This allows the farm to have the resources at the beginning of the season to plan and implement the infrastructure to support the rest of the season.
• What if I'm out of town on a pickup week? Feel free to have a friend or other family receive the delivery or pick up in your place! For delivery to someone else, let us know ahead of time!
• Does delivery cost more? Yes, we've added a small surcharge to cover the extra time it takes to hand deliver each share directly to you. It's only about $1.50/week additional!
